OCTOBER ODYSSEY

PALAU  POHNPEI MICRONESIA

AND

October 24 - November 6, 2010

Have you ever wanted to live on a 167 foot boat for 7 nights, witness a chance encounter with a giant manta ray, experience electrifying diving in one of the world’s richest underwater environments, sleep in a treehouse hotel, and visit several one of a kind attractions that can not be matched anywhere else on the planet?

If the answer is yes, then join SportsCo on our most unique travel adventure to Micronesia in October 2010. The expedition begins on the island of Pohnpei, Micronesia, after an overnight in Honolulu. The largest and tallest island in the Federated States of Micronesia, Pohnpei will provide us with an unmatched experience. The island’s coastline is surrounded by mangrove forests and intersected by numerous channels providing rich nutrients for marine life, and it offers some of Micronesia’s most diverse diving. Soft corals, hard corals, sea fans, and anemone dot the walls, while sharks, turtles, fish, and manta rays cruise below.

Above the water is just as fascinating. We’ll be staying at the Village resort. It’s a one of a kind hotel, built on a hill above the north lagoon. This unique “treehouse” property is in complete harmony with its surroundings. When you stay at the Village you become part of the family, and the attention to detail, quality, and service is unmatched. The food is delicious, the ambiance is spectacular, and you will fall in love with this off the beaten path slice of heaven. We’ll have the opportunity to swim in waterfalls, explore the ancient stone city of Nan Madol, dive the magnificent Pohnpei’s reefs, and top it off with mouth watering dinners. This resort consistently receives high ratings from all who visit.

After 4 nights on Pohnpei, we’re off to Palau, the shining star for serious divers. Comprised of an incredible cluster of islands and giant lagoons, Palau is world renowned for its spectacular drop-offs. Vertical walls begin knee deep and plummet straight down to more than 1,000 feet! World War II wrecks lie beneath her waters, and Palau is home to the famed Jellyfish lake, where you will experience one of the most memorable adventures of your life!

In Palau everything is big–big walls, big fish, big excitement, and a big boat. We’ll be on the Big Blue Explorer, a 167 foot dive vessel. Home to only 24 guests, this boat has it all from private cabins with bath and showers to on deck jacuzzi and all of the other amenities you would expect. Gourmet dining under a thatched roof on the upper deck provides a fabulous atmosphere for every meal. Just ask us–we’ve done it! For diving, there are two staging areas for pre and post dive preparations with ease and comfort. Because Palau’s reefs start in an incredible 2 feet of water, diving is done by chase boats, and the Big Blue’s large skiffs will make getting to and from your entry area a snap!

Diving in Palau’s 100 foot visibility is legendary with sheer walls and dazzling gardens of soft coral, and the marine life is almost unparalleled. Big animal excitement and an amazing population of reef life will insure even the most zealous diver is entertained! Drop in through a blue hole and exit on the vertical face of the reef, or hook in to the famous Blue Corner for the most electrifying dive of your life–you will have memories of this trip for years to come.

This expedition is going to be our most exciting  adventure yet, and we invite you to join us for the experience of a lifetime on our Micronesian Odyssey. Space is limited so contact us today!
